Welcome!
We are so glad you're here. Thank you for your interest in educating students in Michigan. We are glad to be on this learning journey with you.
Course Overview
Are you interested in becoming a special educator? Perhaps you are curious about the differences between educating students with autism compared to a learning disability. Teacher candidates interested in pursuing a special education teaching endorsement may pick from one of the four disability categories: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Cognitive Impairment (CI), Emotional Impairment (EI), and Specific Learning Disability (SLD). Before you select an eligibility area to pursue, be sure you understand common characteristics of each disability category.
This self-paced course is designed for those interested in pursuing a career teaching students with exceptionalities, but are unsure of what area of special education to pursue. This course should take about 30 minutes to finish, but there’s no time limit. Take as much time as you need to understand everything.
